Dementia Man: A Virtual Screening and Q&A Presented by A Sweeter Course

Jul 11, 2026 at 1:00 PM EST
We are honored to present a virtual screening of Dementia Man, An Existential Journey, a play written and performed by Sam Simon.
During this event, we will watch a recorded performance together. Following the screening, Sam and his wife, Susan, will join us live for a conversation and Q&A.
We welcome people living with cognitive changes, care partners, healthcare professionals, and anyone who wants to be a part of a movement to create a more inclusive world.

Mission
A Sweeter Course, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit, seeks to increase community understanding of and engagement with people living with dementia.

We are building inclusive community spaces where people living with dementia, care partners, and community members can connect, participate, and belong.

We believe a dementia diagnosis does not take away someone’s ability to contribute.

Through the implementation of virtual gatherings and, ultimately, through the development of a dementia-inclusive café, we aim to reduce stigma, support meaningful participation, and create opportunities for connection in everyday life.

With greater understanding and shared community, people living with dementia and their care partners can continue to show up as themselves and remain active participants in the world around them.

Our Logo
designed by: Carlos "Charlie" Olivas Jr.
Our logo was created in collaboration with a person living with dementia (PLWD), Carlos "Charlie" Olivas Jr., who chose a piece of his own artwork to represent our organization. Together with his son and caregiver, Carlos, we selected a portion of an image that felt meaningful to him and reflective of what we hope to build: creativity, identity, and continued expression throughout the experience of dementia.

The design features circles within circles, representing the person living with dementia, surrounded by care partners, the community, and the wider world. These relationships are interconnected and constantly shaping one another, rather than existing in isolation.

We see this logo not just as a brand mark, but as a reminder of the values at the heart of our work: inclusion, connection, and shared meaning.
